The Youth in Parliament Forum (YIPF) is a platform and initiative that brings together both serving and past young legislators from the National Assembly, State Assemblies, and Local Government Councils to amplify youth voices, promote youth participation in governance, and influence policies affecting young people across the 36 states and FCT.
YIPF collaborates with government agencies, civil society organizations, development partners, academic institutions, and international bodies such as the Forum of Young Parliamentarians, established under the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), to broaden diversity and inclusiveness by raising youth presence and incorporating youth perspectives into parliamentary agendas.
To empower young legislators through capacity-building, policy advocacy, and collaborative governance to drive meaningful legislative reforms that promote youth participation and national development.
To be the leading platform for youth parliamentarians, fostering progressive legislative policies, strengthening democratic Institutions, and ensuring inclusive governance for future generations.
To Create An Environment that promotes active sustainable partnership and inclusion of the youth in decision making and legislative processes. Nigeria, with a predominantly young population, has often seen youth-related issues overlooked in legislative priorities. This gap has hindered the full potential of young Nigerians in contributing to national development.
To increase youth political representation by encouraging more young people to run for office and engage in governance.
To promote leadership development by equipping young parliamentarians with the requisite skills for legislative engagement, and public service.
To serve as a bridge between youth populations and government institutions to foster trust, transparency, and civic engagement.
The Executive Committee comprises a diverse team of young leaders, each bringing extensive experience in governance, public policy, and legislative affairs. Their collective expertise ensures that YIPF remains a leading voice in youth-focused legislative advocacy in Nigeria.
